The Plant Controller serves as the finance business partner to the plant manager and leadership team by providing financial leadership in the planning and execution of business goals and objectives. The Plant Controller manages the financial performance of the facility including: administering internal controls, planning, forecasting, reporting, and analyzing business drivers, risks, and operational metrics. The position directs the activities of the Accounting Department by building organizational capability within the finance function and developing financial acumen of the management team.


  • Develop and coordinate the facility’s annual budget, monthly forecasts, goals & objectives, financial reconciliations, reports and analysis for plant management, including variance analysis and cost control reporting and recommendations.
  • Advise and counsel plant manager and senior leadership on financial implications of operating strategies, cost control actions and decisions.
  • Manage, analyze, evaluate and interpret plant financial forecasts and operating results. Inform management of results and recommend corrective actions to address unfavorable trends and variances.
  • Develop and implement the annual budget and execute the monthly financial reporting systems to provide timely and relevant information to plant, region/division, and corporate management. Control and maintain adequate product costing systems for valuation and cost estimating activities.
  • Ensure adequate cost accounting processes are in place, including standard cost updates, physical inventory verification, periodic cycle counts, etc.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate financial data and information for accuracy, consistency, and transparency. Maintain integrity of financial reports prepared by the plant.
  • Interpret, implement and monitor corporate policies and procedures, ensure financials are reported in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and local statutory requirements.
  • Perform month end close transactions to maintain integrity of plant general ledger and its supporting sub-systems. Assess adequacy of reserves and overall financial reporting. Ensure adequate training and oversight is provided to all finance personnel to ensure account reconciliations.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain a system of internal controls that safeguards company asset and provides for integrity and propriety of financial transactions and activities.
  • Evaluate and approve plant capital appropriation requests prior to region/division and corporate management approval. Monitor and report purchase commitments and spending for all capital projects. Conduct follow-up audits to ensure compliance for all capital investments.
  • Manage the deployment of cost saving projects and other programs to provide operating economies and improve profitability. Monitor and provide opportunities to support continuous improvement of Plant Productivity / Gross Utilization.
  • Support other operations initiatives including Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Projects.
  • Ensures the appropriate plant quality policy and systems are thoroughly implemented in the finance function. Ensure all finance responsibilities are defined and communicated throughout the plant with specific responsibilities and appropriate timing.
  • Lead ad hoc projects as required, business development initiatives such as new business opportunities (and possibly financial review of development contracts and appropriate revenue recognition and project accounting (as applicable).



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience as a plant controller, accounting manager, or cost accountant.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting/Costing/Finance within a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong skills in costing analysis.
  • Previous experience and strong skills with SAP.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration.
  • Management experience including supervising and developing professional staff.
  • Previous interaction with cross functional teams, both at the management and staff levels.
  • Experience in evaluate continues improvement projects.
