Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for all facets of manufacturing and distribution operations at the facility, including production, safety, product quality, environmental and financial performance. The Production Manager is responsible for delivering operating results within budget; as well as planning, organizing and implementing actions to accomplish goals and meet company objectives. In addition to managing day-to-day, the incumbent must support the development of longer term strategies for the facility that support the business’ strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Hands on leader responsible for overall operations performance of site
  • Pro-actively manage shop floor, fully engage with operators, technicians, supervisors and support staff
  • Manage production headcount to support business needs, articulate in weekly & monthly staff reports and meetings; have an understanding of the drivers of changes in labor needs
  • Achieve production objectives through effective leadership and direction of the team.
  • Use daily operating reports and metrics to continually assess and improve processes and productivity
  • Recognize the importance of employee engagement in plant operations and advocate it
  • Maintain open communication with all associates, through informal daily interaction as well as periodic formalized sessions (i.e. town hall format) that update all on performance against goals.
  • Develop and promote a culture of Safety, Quality, and Production Compliance.
  • Manage tracking and approval of time and labor for hourly production workforce

Qualifications

  • Experience – min. 10 years in a manufacturing company/facility, preferably in composite manufacturing
  • Experience – minimum 5 years in supervisory role
  • Education – BS Engineering (chemical, process, etc.) or relevant experience
  • Experience working with 5S principles and LEAN manufacturing
  • Proficient in SAP & Excel; knowledge of ERP, time management and production reporting systems a plus
