Overview

The world’s leading bath and kitchen manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer on our growing Chinaware and Bathing Technical Design team. The position is responsible for collaborating cross functionally to bring breakthrough innovations and best-in-class designs to market, ensuring robust performance and manufacturability. The position necessitates a self-motivated individual who works independently and performs with a sense of urgency to deliver results. Strong time management and communication skills are required to provide timing and schedules required to bring new products to market.

Responsibilities

  • Create new product designs including technical design, prototyping, testing and tooling design
  • Design 3D models in order to achieve the design intent and manufacturability, working in collaboration with Industrial Design and Manufacturing
  • Create and maintain detailed dimensional drawings, bill of materials (BOM) drawings and any required technical communication documents
  • ECR/ECN Control - Maintain up-to-date drawings with latest revision changes using WindChill PDM system
  • Provide technical support and problem solving to the manufacturing facilities associated to product design and process related issues
  • Design Analysis – Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Provide and execute design schedules in collaboration with Engineering and Project Management
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and across functions 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience working in a product development environment
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience using 3D CAD modeling software, preferably PTC CREO
  • Experience with the creation of 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings
  • Experience with GD&T, able to perform stack up tolerance analysis
  • Experience with 3D surface modeling, including multi-model parametric linking is a plus
  • Experience with casting, plastic-part processes, such as injection molding, vacuum-forming, thermoforming and extruding preferred
  • Experience using PDM system, preferably WindChill preferred
  • Proven self-starter comfortable working with minimum supervision
  • Ability to travel including occasional travel outside of the US
  • Fluency in conversational Spanish preferred
