This job is working for DPI, Decorative Panels, Alpena MI.

Supports the Plant Manager and local operations team to effectively manage and control the local business. Lead the financial and clerical staff at the plant and be accountable for plant level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, cost accounting, business analysis, and financial reporting. Administers approved accounting practices and internal controls and ensures compliance with financial and corporate policies.


  •  Manage general accounting, payables, hourly payroll, production scheduling, inventory control and other office support personnel at the Alpena location.
  •  Manage month end closings including inventory, journal entries and compilation of all production and financial data reporting.
  •  Analyze and report monthly financial and operational variances timely with appropriate actions to resolve material deviations from expected results.
  •  Forecast monthly cost performance, work with operation’s team to meet or beat key performance metrics
  •  Analyze internal controls to ensure assets are adequately safeguarded along with compliance with corporate policies.
  •  Prepare annual operating plans, budgets and resultant standard product costs.
  •  Select, train, and professionally develop and motivate subordinate personnel.
  •  Assist Corporate Controller/Treasurer with analysis and special projects (including audits) per business needs.
  •  Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  •  Perform other duties as necessary.





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, JSOX).
  •  Demonstrated leadership as part of a plant management team.
  •  Proven ability to manage and develop staff.
  •  Desire and drive for continuous improvement.
  •  High level of proficiency in PC and "mainframe" financial systems/enterprise solutions (i.e. JD Edwards).
  •  Sound planning and organizational skills.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.


 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, advanced degree in same desirable.



  •  6 years as a plant controller or cost accounting manager in a manufacturing environment, managing a staff, with emphasis on cost accounting, reporting, variance analysis and internal controls.
  •  A combination of training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position.

 Office Environment, routinely out in the plant/on the manufacturing floor
