  • Overview

    The primary focus of the Senior Buyer is the procurement of all direct and indirect materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner, supporting manufacturing operations and managing supplier relationships with regards to cost, delivery, quality and invoicing. Position will be responsible for source selection and procurement to support plant needs for direct and indirect materials and services. The successful candidate must be people, process, and systems understanding and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the purchasing team in all purchases of products and services in accordance with company purchasing policies and procedures, including performance management, daily direction, coaching and development of Junior Buyer
    • Analyze, schedule and action orders based on MRP signals in accordance with established governances and policies
    • Obtain and analyze bids in accordance with established policies and procedures
    • Status and expedite purchase orders as required to support production
    • Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
    • Monitor and communicate component shortages to expedite and secure supplier fulfillment of demand and report to Materials Manager on shortage status
    • Maintain and adhere to inventory-level and capacity targets.
    • Manage master data information of internal and external suppliers, such as price, lead times and order policies
    • Maintain inventory level and in-flow schedules to minimize obsolete, inactive and excess inventory
    • Calculate cost benefit and perform independent analysis to identify cost saving opportunities
    • Resolve invoice discrepancies
    • Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions.
    • Investigates and develops supply sources, prepares bid specifications, issues bid requests and reviews quotations.
    • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers consistent with plant fiscal goals.
    • Participate in improvement projects related to the Demand to Supply process, including but not limited to, cost reductions, system modifications and data management.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field
    • 8 years’ experience in a purchasing department required
    • Working knowledge of MRP principles and supply chain management
    • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
    • SAP experience highly desired
