  • Overview

    The development of new fixtures at the Design Center, as well as quality checks of existing ones, requires the ability to evaluate samples for form and function. This position for Engineering Technician is the principle mechanism for the Fixtures Engineering Department to get feedback on how fixtures comply with design briefs, engineering specifications, and national standards.



    • Conduct performance tests on chinaware, bathing fixtures, and miscellaneous components per the requests of engineers and/or project managers, recording data and writing lab reports following a “Request for Services” system and format.
    • Execute “unusual” requests outside normal hydraulic testing routines.
    • Provide detailed analysis of gathered test results, digesting raw data and forming coherent summaries of test outcomes.
    • Improve laboratory efficiencies by assisting in the design and construction of test rigs, fixtures, and processes in support of product and component testing.
    • Verify product compliance with all plumbing codes given guidance.
    • Create forms and procedures for group use.
    • Verify installation instructions by performing mock-up installations, clarifying instructions as required.



    • Associates degree in Engineering or Technology preferred.  Engineering B.S. degree a plus.
    • 1-2 years of mechanical, hands-on, laboratory, or shop experience, preferably with a background in plumbing products.
    • Must be mechanically inclined with good analytical skills for conducting tests, collecting data, and documenting results with minimum supervision. Must be detail-orientated.
    • Solid computer experience using MS Office software is a must. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. May require bending, pushing, reaching and standing.
    • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
