  • Overview

    The Engineering Technician will perform a variety of required New Product Development (NPD) testing tasks, including end-use product performance tests (e.g. flush testing, part approvals), reliability testing (e.g. mean time to failure), and data collection/reporting (both manual and automatic) on various bath and kitchen fixtures, associated materials and components.


    • Provide product and reliability testing support services to verify that new product development (NPD) products and their components meet all design specifications and applicable national standards.
    • Perform product evaluations and vendor qualification tests on new products and purchased components supporting reliability testing and comparative evaluations in the Engineering group.
    • Conduct performance tests on fixtures and components per the requests of engineers and/or Project Managers, documenting data and writing lab reports following a “Request for Services” system and format.
    • Help to improve laboratory efficiencies by assisting in the design and construction of test rigs and fixtures to develop automatic data acquisition and control systems in support of materials and end-use product and component tests.
    • Conduct new product and process verification tests following written procedures (recording and reporting). Verify compliance with codes & standards and product specifications for all fixtures.
    • Build and help design, maintain and calibrate test fixtures and reliability test rigs to support long term reliability and materials testing requirements.
    • Act as primary point of contact for maintenance and creation of automatic testing rigs that involve LabVIEW, PLC’s, and/or programming electromechanical actuators.
    • Help to verify installation instructions by performing mock-up installations and clarify instructions where and when necessary


    • B.S. in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
    • Three or more years mechanical, hands-on, laboratory or shop experience. Background in plumbing products preferred.
    • Must be mechanically inclined with good analytical skills for conducting tests, collecting data, and documenting results with minimum supervision.
    • Experience with MS Office software is a must. Knowledge of automatic data acquisition systems preferred.
    • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. May require bending, pushing, reaching and standing.
